There are a lot of videos on You Tube. So many that one cannot scratch the surface in one lifetime. But now and then I see something really extraordinary and I wish to share some of them.
Christopher Hitchens
Hitchens was an outspoken critic of religion and was a self-proclaimed anti-theist, in that he not only dismissed supernatural beliefs but, contrary to some atheists who wished there was a God, was positively grateful that the beliefs of the faithful were false.
He debated Tony Blair in Toronto on November 26, 2010 on the proposition “Religion is a Force for Good in the World.” His opening remarks of seven minutes are probably some of his finest, despite the fact that 5 months earlier he had been diagnosed with esophageal cancer and he would be very lucky to live another five years.
George Carlin
You have probably seen this. It is a classic with nearly 4 million views. George is vulgar, offensive, and funny. In the realm of calculated blasphemy it is unmatched, with the possible exception of some work by Jim Jefferies.
Kim Davis
The Kim Davis spectacle was upsetting for many, for vastly different reasons. At one point Mike Huckabee exclaimed, “Thank God for Kim Davis.”
I kind of echo that sentiment. I think it was good to expose nationally the hypocrisy implicit in the faith mentality. Scott Clifton, aka TheoreticalBullshit, provided a compelling review of the actual issues. I have not seen or heard any discussion of this event that I could agree with more than this one.
Lady Gaga
When Lady Gaga collaborated with Tony Bennett she came out of the closet and exposed herself as a serious musician. What does this have to do with the theme of this website? Nothing. I just think it is a fine work of art from beginning to end. So I just stuck it in. After all, this site belongs to me and I can do whatever I want with it.
Enjoy.
